PLAGUE RUSSIA

Who we are

About Plague Russia

Plague Russia is an independent information tracker for disease events in Russia and worldwide. We map the status of each event — with sources and timestamps — so readers can see what is confirmed, what is suspected, and what is not.

What this site is

  • A live map and status tracker for outbreak events, starting with Russia.
  • Source-traceable: every event lists its sources and when it was last updated.
  • Editorially careful: unconfirmed claims are labelled and never presented as fact.

What this site is not

  • Not a government agency, health authority, or medical service.
  • Not a source of medical or travel advice.
  • Not affiliated with WHO, Rospotrebnadzor, the US CDC, or any other body.

How we work

We read official channels (WHO disease outbreak news, national health authorities), wire services and major media. Where official and media accounts differ, we show both side by side. Where a figure comes only from media, we mark it and say so. See our editorial policy and sources for the full method.

Why this exists

During a fast-moving, uncertain event, accurate status is harder to find than a headline. Our aim is the opposite of sensationalism: a calm map that says exactly what is known, what is not, and who said it.
